Our story
Built from a real problem,
not a market opportunity.
The founders of KeneLabs worked directly with colleges in Nellore and saw first-hand how assessment infrastructure had been neglected — outdated tools, no audit trails, no integrity controls, and faculty managing everything manually.
We did not start with a thesis about the edtech market. We started with a specific, painful problem and built the minimum viable system to solve it. That system now serves 9 institutions — and the problem is still the same one we set out to fix.
The problem was obvious.
KeneLabs was founded in Nellore after watching colleges run high-stakes assessments on WhatsApp PDFs and Google Forms. The first version of the assessment module shipped in 90 days.
Proctoring, but human-first.
Added full-screen proctoring, coding workspaces, and the first integrity signal engine. First 20 colleges onboarded. Learned that the hardest part is getting institutions to trust software with decisions that affect students' futures.
Hiring deserved the same rigour.
Launched Secure Interview Platform after repeated requests from college clients running campus placements. Introduced the mandatory human-review workflow after discovering that automated disqualification created more disputes than it resolved.
Scale, rebuilt from the ground up.
Crossed 200 institutions. Rebuilt the entire backend as a multi-tenant monorepo. Launched software development as a service for institutions that need custom tooling beyond our platform products.

Every decision made on our platform is backed by a permanent, tamper-proof audit trail. We do not rely on heuristics when student futures are at stake.
Human review over automation.
Software flags anomalies. Humans make the final call. We built our proctoring workflow this way deliberately — and we will not change it to chase efficiency metrics.
Consistency over convenience.
The same rules apply to every student, every session, regardless of who is watching. Fairness is not a feature you can toggle off.
Impact over optics.
We measure success by whether institutions can run fairer, more defensible assessments. Not by NPS scores, press mentions, or product awards.
